After marrying my husband Gavin in 2009, we made the decision to work abroad and eventually grew our family on three different continents.
Our home filing system includes loads of immigration and citizenship documents, and my walls are full of memories gathered throughout our journeys. Now that we’re settled into our first long-term home in the USA, I’m excited to share how a global experience has shaped my worldview as a Christian in America.
While we lived in Southeast Asia from 2014-2019, I spent my time combining community development philosophies (my doctoral studies) with organic business models (the local need) to bootstrap effective economic change for families needing safe work.
All that means is that I helped launch businesses for people without good jobs, and I tried to do it with the most informed approach to prevent human trafficking.
I regularly consult on businesses being developed across the Global South and am particularly interested in work within the 10/40 window.

I earned my PhD from Clemson University in 2019 and continue my research pairing human trafficking crises with sustainable business modeling. I have partnered with Freedom Business Alliance for the bulk of my research work.
