Overview
Lauren talks with Jeje Godfrey Nzirimu, President and Founder of East Africa Energy Solutions, about the many complications of mobilizing both aid and religion across cultures. Jeje highlights concepts of power dynamics, and explains why so many development efforts fall flat or cause unintended harm. With loads of generosity and grace, he shares wisdom for Westerners engaging in the majority world to help them be better partners and more humble co-laborers in whatever goals they have for engaging across borders.
“What do we want to achieve with the people, rather than for the people?”
“I think that God is holistic in how He deals with us and how He wants us to thrive and bless us here.”
“I think the church needs to be intentional and have systems and departments in place to actually reach out to the local community. And also, I think it’s easier to go and evangelize outside than to your own people.”
